Old clothes and shoes can now be recycled and turned into money!  L W Sait & Sons have launched a new Textile Bank initiative to raise funds for the Surrey Air Ambulance.

On Monday 18th January Jim McAllister, Chief Executive of Dunsfold Park took delivery of a new Clothes and Shoes recycling bank to be sited near the Estate's main entrance, off Stovolds Hill.

Jim McAllister said, "With an expected annual minimum return to the Surrey Air Ambulance Trust of £750, we are delighted to make space available for the textile banks at Dunsfold Park. The Air Ambulance provides a vital service to the local community and we are always looking at ways to support them. The bank is a great way for us to do this and is conveniently located, just off our main entrance, so that everyone in the community can not only recycle unwanted clothes and shoes but also help raise vital funds for the Air Ambulance."

Last year was a busy year operationally for the Surrey Air Ambulance. The helicopter flew a total of 694 missions and carried 96 patients. Of these, 46% were road traffic crashes and 13% medical emergencies. The Air Ambulance has made a significant difference to many of the patients that they have treated, some of whom would not have been alive today, had it not been for the skills of their specialist doctors and paramedics.

Julie Jenkinson, County Fundraiser, had this to say, "Since our launch in 2007, Dunsfold Park and local residents have given us incredible support.  We are delighted that they are able to support this new fundraising initiative to help raise the £1.7 million we need to keep the Air Ambulance flying. We cannot thank them enough and hope more venues will be forthcoming."
