Edwina’s ladies’ lunch is Shere delight

Former Tory MP Edwina Currie gave a
colourful insight into the world of politics at a ladies’ lunch which raised
almost £3,000 for the Surrey Air Ambulance.
The writer and broadcaster, who
lives in Nutfield, gave a speech to more than 40 guests at The William Bray pub
and restaurant in Shere last week (June 9).
She shared her memories and
anecdotes from her time in
The former junior Health Minister
has previously helped to raise more than £100,000 for the Surrey Air Ambulance
through its Air Aid balls at Redhill Aerodrome and
Nutfield.
The life-saving charity needs
£1.7m-a-year to keep the helicopter airborne and each flying mission alone costs
between £1,500 and £2,000.
Edwina said: “I’m delighted to be
able to support the Surrey Air Ambulance. I live in the countryside and close to
the motorways so I know important it is.
“My heart is in my mouth when I see
it circling, I just hope that whoever they are picking up they get to in
time.”
